K-Beauty is really good at pumping out gimmicky, sometimes clever, fun skintertainment products. When I first saw these I'm Sorry For My Skin sheet masks I thought they were hilarious.
As a marketer, the product name, packaging, and concept were all on point and I was dying to try them. They call these sheet masks "jelly masks" and I was really intrigued by this.
There are 4 types that combat different skin sins - dehydration from alcohol, dehydration from coffee, toxins from smoking, and imbalances from too much sugar. Everyone is guilty of one of these at some point and I'm sure we can all attest to the havoc they cause on our skin.
I was super excited to try these sheet masks given the strong marketing but when I used them I was disappointed. Why?
The Jelly Mask
I was expecting the actual mask to be made out of some jelly texture. However, when I opened the package I realized the serum was actually a jelly consistency. It was sort of clumpy and thick and not appealing at all.
The Sheet Mask
The sheet mask itself was subpar. It wasn't that soft. Actually, it was a bit rough, I thought. I love sheet masks that are soft and supple and just cling to your skin. This one wasn't like that.
I love serums that are thick enough to be concentrated and not watered down but thin enough where they easily absorb into your skin. The serum in this mask was a thick, jelly consistency and after about 10 minutes on my face it left clumps of the serum on my face. I had to take a tissue and wipe the rest off because there was just too much serum.
Bottomline is that while this line has great skintertainment value and is great from a marketing standpoint, the product just didn't live up to my expectations.
