When I was in Seoul in July I had a list of skincare items I needed to purchase. At the top of the list was a face oil because I was running dangerously low on my current one.
I was wandering around the Gangnam area and popped into an Innisfree store nearby. The saleswoman there was so good that I totally got sold on this Innisfree Green Tea Seed Oil product.
Now, with face oils I subscribe to the same philosophy as with serums and ampoules - I usually like ones with thicker texture and consistency because it normally means there's less water in it to dilute the ingredients.
After using this Innisfree Green Tea Seed Oil, I would say it's one of the waterier, thinner face oils that I've used.
Innisfree is a brand of Amore Pacific, which is known the Estee Lauder of Korea. It was launched in 2000 as the first "nature brand of Korea". True to that description, Innisfree's concept promotes ingredients from nature, uses eco-friendly packaging, and tries to maintain it's "green beauty" status.
Amore Pacific actually owns their own green tea farm on Jeju Island called Osulluc and I believe most of the green tea ingredient they use in their products come from their own farming and production.
About the Innisfree The Green Tea Seed Oil
This oil, while good for the price (about $40USD on their website), is not one of my favorites. The consistency is a bit on the thin side. Even though it's made of 30% green tea seed oil it doesn't feel as hydrating or moisturizing as other oils that I've used. I guess the benefit of the thinner consistency is that it absorbs faster into the skin. But, as someone with dry skin, I prefer an oil that's thicker and coats my skin to protect it against the cold NYC winters and dry weather.
On the plus side, green tea is known to have so many benefits such as anti-inflammatory properties, anti-oxidants to protect skin from environmental elements, and brightening qualities for the skin.
But, I also didn't like the scent which was a bit too...perfumey, if you will.
I think I prefer the Primera Miracle Seed Concentrate Oil, which is a brand and product from Amore Pacific as well. It's a bit more higher end than Innisfree but the quality matches the price.
